Dentistry

The latest addition to the PVS Memorial Hospital Ltd., the Dental department is staffed by some of the best and most qualified doctors in their respective fields. The department is being developed with the aim of being the formost in the state for rendering high quality "Comprehensive Dental Care". 

In these days of AIDS, Hepatitis B, etc. utmost care is taken in sterilization and "Universal Precautions" as well as "Barrier techniques" are followed. Facilities for management of complicated cases and painless treatment under GA are available. Medically compromised patients are handled routinely. The best available materials worldwide are used , and as such, the same quality of dental care, if not better, is provided at a fraction of the cost abroad.

Dr. Ephraim G. Mampilly, BDS(TVM), DDS(USA), Speciality Certification (University of Michigan, USA), MDS (Lucknow), Specialises in Restroative / Conservative Dentisrty and Endodontics. His area of expertise includes Crown and Bridge Ceramic work, cosmetic / Aesthetic Dentistry, Root Canal treatment, Surgical Endodontics & Implants. Fiberoptic handpieces and advanced flexible motor driven Ni-Ti endodontic filing systems are available for quick, accurate and relatively painless root canal treatment. Assisting the department in all areas of patient care are also Dr. Bindu Ephraim and Dr. Sudeep Cherian.

The department is also supported by Dr. Anna Ommen, MDS (Orthodontics). Early interceptive treatment in children as well as correction of malaligned teeth in adults is done. Post surgical management of cleft lip / cleft palate cases and Dento Facial Orthopaedic problems is also undertaken. With over 10 years of experience, she takes care of edge wise / straight wire fixed orthodontics. She also has extensive experience in Adult orthodontics.

Dr. Majo Ambooken specialises in Periodontics and gum and tooth supporting bone related diseases are managed routinely. Tissue and bone augmentation procedures are done using GTR techniques and bone substitutes like H.A. Electrocautery is available for relatively bloodless soft tissue peridontal surgeries.

Dr. Latha P Rao, MDS and Dr. Binu Augustine, MDS form the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit. Maxillofacial trauma, pre prosthetic surgery, management of benign cysts and tumours are dealt with, stressing a multi-disciplinary approach. Tissue grafting and implant procedures are also undertaken.

The department is also backed by a full fledged Dental Lab with advanced facilities for acrylic, metal and ceramic work. Among the few clinics to be so equipped, this greatly compliments in providing high precision work within a reasonable  timeframe and cost. German  (Vista, Bego & KaVo) furnaces, equipments and products are used ensuring the highest quality.

The clinic functions continuously 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all days except Sundays. Urology

Headed by Dr. George P Abraham, MS, MCh (Uro), the famous Urologist and Transplant Surgeon who has more than 500  renal transplant surgeries to his credit assisted by a team of dedicated doctors who are specialised in this field like Dr. Sanel Varghese, MS, DNB (URO) and Dr. O S Thampan, MS, MCh (Uro). Facilities include Endourological procedures, all laproscopic procedures, surgical and non-surgical management of male impotence and infertility. Laproscopic Donor Nephrectomy, PCNL Key Hole Surgery and management of all Urological cancers. He has done the Kadavar kidney Transplantation for the first time in Kerala.
Dr. George P Braham has completed his training in advanced laparoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. The clinic is famous for Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery. He is also participated in the World Congress of Endo-urology, 2006.

Nephrology

Headed by Dr. Georgy K Nainan MD, MNAMS, DM with advanced facilities including Biocarbonate Haemodialysis using RO water, Peritonial dialysis, Home dialysis (CAPD), Haemofiltration, Haemo Perfusion, Plasmapheresis and management of all kidney diseases. He also been deeply involved with Renal Transplant Surgeries performed by Dr. George P Abraham.
